FINDLAY, Ohio — A group of residents in Findlay gathered on Saturday to remember Charlie Kirk , the conservative commentator who was assassinated during a speaking event in Utah earlier this week. His alleged shooter has since been arrested .

Kirk, 31, was a well-known and influential right-wing political figure who was well known for his "Prove Me Wrong" events, in which he would invite students on college campuses to challenge his views.

In Findlay, a group of admirers described him as a free speech advocate and leader whose influence helped shape the modern conservative movement.
