Robin McMillan laughs dryly as he recalls a recent conversation with a police officer who told him he and fellow inhabitants of a midtown Brockville encampment will soon have to vacate the premises.

McMillan, 48, of Brockville, has been living for about six weeks in the encampment near the Salvation Army church.
It’s one of two encampments of homeless people that city police, along with local agencies, are now working to clear out over the coming weeks.
