PISCATAWAY – Rutgers football is right where it needs to be entering Big Ten play.
The Scarlet Knights blew out Norfolk State 60-10 at SHI Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 13 to improve to 3-0 this season heading into their Sept. 19 meeting with Iowa to open up its conference slate.
There wasn’t a whole lot to take away from Rutgers’ win over the Spartans, who are the FCS level and were clearly overmatched.
That was evident from the early going when Norfolk State botched a punt and Dylan Braithwaite returned it six yards for a touchdown to open the scoring.
That was the first punt-block touchdown Rutgers had – the second one came later in the quarter when Jett Elad blocked it and Kaj Sanders recovered and returned it 22 yards for a score.
The Scarlet Knights were in total control.
