LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The Lynchburg Police Department is in search of a suspect accused of stabbing a woman while attempting to break up a brawl in Lynchburg.

At 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, officers were dispatched to a Lynchburg hospital for a report of a 27-year-old woman who was stabbed.

The victim is expected to survive, according to Lynchburg PD.

After an initial investigation, it was revealed that 25-year-old Tykwon Mitchell, allegedly stabbed the woman while attempting to break up a brawl that took place at a neighborhood in the 500 block of Chambers St. Mitchell bolted from the scene, said police.

The investigation also revealed Mitchell was wanted on other unrelated charges and will be additionally charged with malicious wounding, according to Lynchburg PD.
