CRAIG COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Multiple fire crews from Craig County Newcastle Volunteer, Roanoke Fire-EMS, and Salem were called to rescue a pilot from a downed glider that got stuck 30-40 feet in some trees.

Around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, fire crews from multiple jurisdictions responded to a report of a glider that crashed into trees near Glider Dr. in Craig County.

Fire crews arrived along with a bucket truck from Craig-Botetourt Electric Co-Op to assist with the rescue effort.

The pilot informed crews that he wasn’t injured, according to the Craig County Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department.
