MCCAYSVILLE, Ga. — A suspect accused of shooting a McCaysville police captain late Friday night has been taken into custody in Fannin County, according to authorities.

McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley said that 26-year-old Timothy Ramsy was arrested and booked into the Fannin County Jail.

He was on the run in an hourslong manhunt, wanted on charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer after Capt. Bradley Worley was critically hurt while responding to a call around 11:10 p.m. on Friday night.

Officials warned Ramsey is armed and extremely dangerous. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert to assist in the manhunt , but that has now been canceled.
