ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico United hosted USL Championship Western Conference leader FC Tulsa on Saturday night. The match was scoreless after 90 minutes, however United lost thanks to an own goal from Sergio Rivas in stoppage time.
"Tulsa has scored a number of goals off of throw ins this year. Sergio is trying to do the right thing and it's just unfortunate," said United head coach Dennis Sanchez. "For me it's more of how you avoid getting to that spot in the first place but, the reality is I thought for a team that is notoriously good on set pieces, I thought we did a really good job outside of that one."
Offensively, United racked up 11 shots but only one on target.
