AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Sod Poodles defeated the Midland Rockhounds, 9-8, Saturday night, officially securing at least a series split.
Both the Rockhounds and the Sod Poodles finished the first frame with five runs, but it would be Jack Hurley to give Amarillo the go-ahead runs with a two-run blast out to the right field.
Despite a comeback attempt, the Sod Poodles would come out on top, thanks to runs from Jean Walters to score J.J. D’Orazio on two separate occasions.
Avery Short picks up his fourth win on the mound for the Sod Poodles this season. In 5.1 innings pitched, he allowed five runs off seven hits while striking out five batters.
The two teams will be back in action Sunday at 1:05 p.m. CST for the final game of the regular season.
