In a dramatic Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) showdown, the Hampton Pirates came up just short in a double-overtime battle against the North Carolina A&T Aggies, falling 33–30 on Saturday.
After trailing 3–0 early in the first quarter, Hampton responded with a big play on offense. Quarterback Isaiah Freeman connected with Tae-Shon Johnson on a catch-and-run touchdown from 30 yards out, putting the Pirates in front 7–3. Freeman had a standout performance, throwing for 153 yards and two touchdowns while adding 126 yards and a rushing score on the ground.
By the fourth quarter, the Pirates held a 20–10 lead and looked poised to close things out. But the Aggies weren’t finished.
NC A&T quarterback Noah Sanders sparked a late comeback, finding Jamison Warren for a 47-yard touchdown to cut
