Duke football's Darian Mensah made his return to Yulman Stadium on Saturday night.

However, it wasn’t the return the Blue Devils ' quarterback was hoping for as Duke (1-2) fell 34-27 on the road at Tulane, Mensah's former team prior to his Duke transfer in December 2024.

Mensah's return was spoiled by that of Tulane's Jake Retzlaff, who transferred to the Green Wave from BYU in July 2025. Retzlaff finished the night going 15-of-23 passing for 245 yards, leading Tulane's rushing attack with 111 yards on 17 carries to score four touchdowns, setting a school record.
