Like many civic community organizations, the Roswell Sertoma Club is facing difficulty keeping its membership numbers up.
Bob Lynd, past president and a long-time member of the club said it is because young people have other things on their mind.
“One of our problems is age,” he said. “Half the club is 60 or more. It's just not a young club. We're not peculiar. Everybody's having that same problem.”
But that doesn't stop the club from being a major contributor to local charities.
“What we do is we support local charities and activities like the Walk for Hope and philanthropic causes," Lynd said. “We have merit-based scholarships, and we awarded somewhere between 20 to 25 or so, $500 scholarships each semester.”
