HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - For the first time in six years, a bowling event supporting youth mentorship programs took place Saturday.
The event, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, was held at Aiea Bowl to support the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Hawaii. It’s the first time the event was held since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organization provides mentorship for kids between six and 26 years old.
In addition to the money raised, the program named its match of the year for little sister Ailee Watanabe and her big sister, who’s been paired up for a decade.
“I’ve seen her be shy and held back, and now she is just taking a leadership position and is ready to enter the workforce, and I know this made a big impact on her life,” said big sister Katherine Eum.
