COLUMBIA — The most important question of South Carolina’s season was one the Gamecocks were hoping to not have to answer.

Can they survive without LaNorris Sellers?

Obviously they could not on Sept. 13, as Vanderbilt emphatically ended a 16-game losing streak to the Gamecocks and uppercut them out of their home stadium 31-7. Shane Beamer didn’t have an immediate update afterward; he didn’t want to go too far into the ether of if backup Luke Doty could take the team home this year or if they’d have to look at other QB options because (he said) they just don’t know what Sellers’ status is (or he knows and doesn’t want to say for 24 hours when he speaks on his normal Sunday teleconference).
