RADNOR — Radnor Township officials hope new traffic signal technology will help improve commutes along Lancaster Avenue through Villanova.
In July, the township commissioners awarded a $1.68 million project to Lenni Electric to install an AI traffic adaptive system on the traffic signals from Villanova Center to Airdale Road.
The system uses AI technology to detect the presence of vehicles and then computes real-time data of changing traffic flow, coordinating signals accordingly.
Upon completion of this final phase of implementation, the township will be using AI-traffic adaptive technology on all the signals from St. Davids Road east to Airdale Road.
