SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Jacob Shafer, 34 of Mason City, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for drug and firearm offenses.

Shafer pled guilty on May 7 to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and illegal firearm possession. His past convictions in 2022 for similar offenses prohibited him from owning firearms.

In March 2024, law enforcement says it executed a search warrant at Shafer's home and seized the following:

- four bags of methamphetamine

- drug paraphernalia including pipes, bongs, grinders, and baggies

- a digital scale

- inety-six .380 caliber Winchester rounds of ammunition

- a Ruger LCP, .380 pistol, and a total of 6 rounds of ammunition, which included a round in the chamber

- a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol, and a total of 13 rounds of ammun
