A 60-year-old Bogalusa man was hit and killed by a car Saturday night while walking along La. Highway 21 just outside of town, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Jackson Brown was walking south in the right southbound lane of the highway near its intersection with La. Highway 3124 when he was hit by a 2023 Nissan Sentra headed in the same direction, police said.

The collision was reported to police just before 9 p.m. Brown was declared dead on scene, police said.

Police said the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a hospital with "minor" injuries. The crash remains under investigation and routine toxicology samples will be analyzed, police said.
