SAN ANTONIO — A new adorable addition was announced at San Antonio Zoo this weekend.

San Antonio Zoo unveiled its newest mascot, Savanna the Giraffe, whose mission is to help the zoo secure a future for wildlife.

"Savanna is more than just a fun addition to the zoo; she represents San Antonio Zoo’s deep commitment to giraffe conservation. Giraffe populations are in crisis worldwide, with habitats shrinking by nearly 90% over the past 300 years and local extinctions already occurring in several African countries," according to a press release from the zoo.

"Today, there is one giraffe for every four elephants in Africa, highlighting the critical need for action. San Antonio Zoo is working to reverse that trend. Every giraffe feeding, Conserfari Tour, and overnight stay at Spekboom Lodge
