SAN ANTONIO — A child was rushed to the hospital after an apparent near-drowning at a home on the city’s far west side, according to San Antonio police.

Emergency crews were called to the 1300 block of Cavern Trail just before 10:30 a.m. for reports of a drowning, officials said. By the time officers arrived at the scene, authorities said the 2-year-old had already been taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said the family was gathered for a celebration when the child was found in a pool for an undetermined amount of time.

The family is cooperating with investigators. No further details were provided.
