BOISE COUNTY, Idaho — Highway 55 is now open after being completely closed to traffic due to a brush fire burning in the area, the Boise County Sheriff's Office announced.

The highway opened to a single lane in each direction at 7:00 p.m. The Eagle Fire Chief, Tyler Lewis, told KTVB it will remain that way for the next two to three hours, completely opening sometime around 10:00 p.m., and crews will continue to mop up any hot spots through the evening.

Lewis said the fire started off the roadway and was around 10 acres. Officials are still investigating the cause.

BLM, IDL and Horseshoe Bend Fire assisted Eagle Fire crews to contain the blaze quickly.

The Boise County Sheriff's Office said people should be mindful of fire crews working in the area.
