The Falcons won the coin toss and, rather than defer to the second half, elected to receive the opening kickoff. They immediately turned to running back Bijan Robinson, who picked up a combined 42 yards on his first two carries to quickly put the Falcons into Minnesota territory. The Falcons appeared ready to go for it on a 4th-and-2 from inside the red zone, but the crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium caused a second delay of game penalty on the drive, and the Falcons settled for a 38-yard field goal from (John) Parker Romo to give themselves an early 3-0 lead.
