CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead after a crash on I-77 northbound near Uptown Charlotte, according to Medic.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night near the West Boulevard exit.

Medic says one person was pronounced dead on the scene. No word yet on the victim's identity or what caused the crash.

The road is closed near Exit 9 (NC 160). According to NCDOT, the road is projected to reopen around 2 a.m.
