A man said to have used his employment at a Canberra reptile zoo to access two teenage girls has been found guilty of sexually assaulting the young victims.
On Monday, September 15, an ACT Supreme Court jury found Liam Anthony Thornton guilty of 11 charges, including sexual intercourse without consent, committing an act of indecency without consent, and grooming.
The 26-year-old was acquitted on three other counts.
Thornton was employed with the Canberra Reptile Zoo and aged in his early and mid-20s at the time of his crimes.
He is said to have met the girls, one of whom was aged under 16 and the other under 18, through their interests in reptiles.
