A hero Lanarkshire boy saved his mum's life after finding her in a coma on the living room floor.
Brodie Allan, 8, assumed Susan, 46, had overslept when he woke up and realised he was running late for school. He found his mum unconscious on the floor of their Airdrie home and immediately took action.
Knowing that she lived with type 1 diabetes, he attempted to rouse her. When these efforts proved unsuccessful, young Brodie dialled 999, reports the Daily Record .
He monitored her pulse and breathing whilst speaking to the operator as emergency services raced to the scene. They discovered Susan in a coma caused by diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious diabetes complication resulting from severe insulin deficiency which can prove fatal.
