It was a big-time game, so Gibraltar Carlson turned to its big-time talent.

The Marauders rode Izaiah Wright to a 42-21 victory over the defending Division 5 state champion Pontiac Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 12.

The Purdue recruit carried 41 times for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns.

“This is really the first time this season we’ve gotten to show him as the Division 1 player that he is,” Carlson coach Jason Gendron said. “The point for me and my staff going in was to feed them a heavy dose of Izaiah. We had him for 25 to 30 carries, but he ended going for 41 because of the way the game played out.”

Unlike last week when he scored 3 touchdowns on 3 touches, Wright had to grind out his yards. His longest play was a 38-yard TD run in the fourth quarter that put the game away.
