WEST LAFAYETTE — Long before Jamarrion Harkless became Purdue football's starting nose guard, he was the one shoving around defensive linemen.

He once led his team, the Dolphins, to a youth league championship in his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. Fellow Boilermaker defensive lineman Demeco Kennedy was there — on the other side of the ball as a Ravens linebacker and on the wrong end of the scoreboard.
