Testimony so far in the trial of a lawsuit filed by former Polk County HR chief Jim Nahas has detailed tensions, conflicts and intrigue among the county supervisors.

The trial continues Monday, Sept.15, with more testimony, including from Nahas himself.

In a closed meeting of the Polk County supervisors in December 2020, Polk County Administrator John Norris , brand new to his job, told the supervisors that the county’s human relations chief was an at-will employee and not a competent one, and that they could fire him without any reason.

“He’ll be selling used cars,” Norris said in the recorded session.
