Police are looking for several assailants, one of whom opened fire on a 17-year-old boy, killing him early Monday in Uptown.

Around 12:20 a.m., the boy was in the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue when he was approached by eight males, Chicago police said.

One person in the group opened fire, striking the teen multiple times in the body, police said.

He was taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

No one was in custody.

Area 3 detectives are investigating.
