Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes unit had a heavy presence in Weyburn over the weekend, following a shooting on Highway 39.

On Friday, September 12, around 8:00 p.m., two Weyburn women were travelling in a black Ford Explorer SUV on Highway 39 when a large crack was heard. Upon investigation, it was determined that a firearm was discharged and entered the back of the SUV, striking the 44-year-old passenger, who died on scene.

The shooting appears to be random, and police are looking for more information as to what happened.
