The 45th annual Terry Fox run took place worldwide and in Kingston it brought more than 400 runners and walkers to Lake Ontario Park on Sunday.
Before the crowd even put sneaker to footpath, the donations exceeded the goal. By 6 a.m. that morning, the online donation for the Greater Kingston Area totaled more than $54K, well past its goal of just over $32K.

To date, more than $900 million has been raised for cancer research in Terry’s name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.
Kristi Murphy, organizer of the Kingston’s event, lost her grandmother to cancer in 1976 after three courageous battles with the disease. Her cousin, Lisa, was also taken too early by the disease. She was the Terry Fox Run’s 40th anniversary grand marshal.
