Ben Griffin looked for every chance to win the Procore Championship on Sunday. And the Ryder Cup contender indeed was in his sharpest form as he led the charge through the final round, matching Scottie Scheffler shot for shot.

But the pages flipped at the par-4 14th hole when Griffin made a bogey and couldn't claw back from the slip .

Scheffler, meanwhile, held his nerve. A birdie on the par-5 15th gave him the edge, and he closed out at 19 under to secure his 19th PGA Tour title in Napa .

But the world No. 1 made it clear the moment wasn't just about his win.
