The northern lights were visible in parts of New Hampshire overnight.

WMUR received several images, including shots from Warren, Georges Mills and Colebrook. The aurora was visible in other areas, too.

Conditions overnight were favorable for aurora activity after strong geomagnetic storm levels were reached, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center .

Northern lights are caused by solar storms that create coronal mass ejections, sending highly energized particles exploding from the sun's surface to Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field.
