NEW CUMBERAND — An Ohio man arrested in Chester following a two-state police chase two weeks ago didn’t show up for a scheduled court hearing in Hancock County, with officials later learning he had been released and returned to face other charges in Stark County.
Officials were somewhat perplexed about the absence of Van Keith Jones II, 41, originally scheduled for a hearing at 9 a.m. Thursday, after he wasn’t brought over to Hancock County Magistrate Court like others set to appear.
It took a little time to verify, but Jones, of Canton, had posted bond on all his West Virginia charges, resulting in his pickup by Massillon police.
