BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Charitable giving — and golf balls — were in the air, Monday.

BHE GT&S, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company, hosted its annual charity golf tournament at Pete Dye. But before hitting the green, the company handed out $100,000 to 10 local nonprofits.

"Since its beginning in the 1990s, this tournament has been a source of industry supported charity to the area communities," said Jason Harshbarger, BHE GT&S's state policy director for West Virginia and Ohio. "All that we raise today will help feed, house, clothe or inspire those around us, and we are grateful to our sponsors for making that happen."

This year marked BHE GT&S's 28th annual charity golf invitational. In that time, more than $2.7 million has been donated to neighborhood charities.
