Heritage held off a furious second-half rally from Walker to secure a 48-41 win Friday night in a non-region thriller loaded with offensive fireworks from start to finish.
The Hawks roared out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and carried a 21-14 edge into halftime, but the game erupted in the third quarter with a combined 54 points between the two teams.
Walker tied the score at 21-21 early in the period before Heritage answered with back-to-back rushing touchdowns to surge ahead 34-27.
Walker rallied again to even the game at 41-41 on a touchdown and two-point conversion late in the third, but Heritage struck once more with a rushing score and extra point to reclaim a 48-41 lead heading into the fourth.
