A Scarborough man died Saturday night after he crashed while fleeing from a police traffic stop on Interstate 295.

Jacob Brown, 34, was driving a gray 2021 Jeep Wrangler south on I-295, near mile marker 16 in Yarmouth, about 9:30 p.m. when troopers stopped him, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Troopers had received multiple calls about a driver in a similar vehicle driving erratically, beginning around mile marker 45 in Richmond, Moss said Monday morning.
