CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said on Monday that Clemson University would not be prosecuted if the university chose to fire a professor over controversial posts about the death of Charlie Kirk.

Numerous politicians began calling last week for the firing of a professor who made "inappropriate comments" regarding the death of Kirk, a conservative activist who was shot and killed at an event in Utah.

Clemson University confirmed on Sunday it suspended the professor while the university conducted an investigation into the social media posts. The university's board of trustees has also called a special meeting on Monday for a closed "executive session."
