Hannah Einbinder won her first Emmy on Sunday night, but it’s her acceptance speech that has many talking.
The 30-year-old received the Emmy for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” for her role as comedy writer Ava Daniels in HBO’s “Hacks.”
Most of her acceptance speech was standard stuff – thanking the creators, cast and crew – but it was her parting words that have caused some controversy.
“Finally, go birds, f--- ICE and free Palestine. Thank you,” she said before walking off the stage, forcing CBS to overlay a “bleep” on the broadcast.
Einbinder is a longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan since her father, comedian Chad Einbinder, was born in the area. But she also comes from a Jewish family, so her “Free Palastine” comments caught some off guard.
