GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A U-Haul was used as a ramming device in a breaking and entering at a Michigan hookah store early Monday morning, police say.
It happened Monday around 3:30 a.m. at a hookah store in Royal Oak Township, a suburb of Detroit. A security service notified first responders after an alarm at the store's front door went off, Michigan State Police said in a social media post.
A U-Haul box truck was used to drive into the front of the store, which was closed at the time, MSP said. Police believe three suspects were attempting to steal an ATM.
By the time troopers arrived, the suspects had already left.
MSP says firefighters and DTE were called to the scene as a water line and electric lines were damaged.
