GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Three people were hurt after a boat exploded Sunday afternoon on Lake St. Clair.

At 3:45 p.m. Sunday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office was called out to Belvidere Bay in Harrison Township, a few miles east of Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

“The owner of the vessel, along with one adult and two juvenile passengers had been anchored in the bay. When they attempted to leave, the engine compartment flamed up and eventually exploded. The four individuals were ejected from the boat,” the MCSO said in a social media post.
