Elections Canada says it will conduct a comprehensive review of its special ballot processes after this year’s election, when there were issues in several ridings including in Terrebonne, Que., that led to a court challenge of the results.
The agency said in a report tabled in the House of Commons Monday that the review will consider its training, control mechanisms and all processes “to prevent similar occurrences in future elections and to recognize that, with the evolution of the demand for special ballots, the agency needs to make sure that its supporting infrastructure and controls also evolve.”
