SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) Engine 2 assisted a local 8-year-old boy whose leg had gotten stuck in the crank arm of his bike.

Firefighters were able to safely cut the crank arm to free the boy’s leg. The bike, which SVFD said was a gift from his grandfather, was damaged in the process.

That didn’t stop the Engine 2 crew from bringing the bike to a local shop and having it repaired.

“Mission accomplished: safe kid, fixed bike, smiles all around,” SVFD said.
