Daniella Hines got a lot more than she expected in the delivery room: a baby boy tipping the scales at more than 6kg (13 pounds, 15 ounces) — nearly twice the size of an average newborn.
“He was the talk of the maternity ward,” Ms Hines, 40, told US news website TODAY.com of her son Annan, born on September 3 in a at BayCare’s St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida.
According to medical staff, he is believed to be the biggest baby ever delivered there.
During the delivery, which came via C-section, Ms Hines said she felt a strange sensation, unlike the delivery she experienced with Annan’s brother, Andre Jr.
“I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me? What is going on here?’,” she said.
“I felt so much pressure.”
