PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took to social media Sunday evening to denounce comments from President Trump and call for a de-escalation of political violence in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination.

After Trump lambasted "scum" on the left as the "problem," Shapiro called for the president to "speak and act with moral clarity," invoking his personal experience as a target of political violence.

The exchange started with a post from the Trump administration's official "Rapid Response 47" X account.

The post included a video of President Trump speaking to reporters from the tarmac in Morristown, New Jersey, in which he says people on the left are "under major investigation."
