AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Authorities have dropped murder charges against two teenagers, who were found to have acted in self-defense in a shooting that killed a 14-year-old last month .
Defense attorney Keith Johnson said last week the murder charge against 16-year-old Vincent Hakim Carter was dropped after a preliminary hearing Thursday.
And the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office confirmed charges were also dropped against Nametrius McClam, who was arrested the day after the shooting. He was 18 at the time.
A filing by the DA’s Office states that the lead investigator’s testimony in McClam’s preliminary hearing established that he acted in self-defense.
“In light of this testimony, there is no longer sufficient evidence to prove this charge beyond a reasonable doubt,”
