Manlius, NY -- A Manlius man accused of murdering his nephew in April feared for his own life after the victim repeatedly sped at him with a car in reverse, his lawyer argued Monday.

Radu Turner, 48, shot Kenquan Davis, 39, of Syracuse, during an April 6 dispute in front of Turner’s house at 205 Elmbrook Drive.

Authorities said that Davis was driving away around 4 p.m. when Turner shot him, causing Davis to crash into a tree nearby. Turner then went missing for six days before eventually turning himself in to police .

Turner was later indicted on murder and illegal weapons charges.

For the first time Monday, Turner’s lawyer pushed back publicly on the police version of events, suggesting that Davis was the initial aggressor.
