Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued a special weather statement over much of the southeast including the Weyburn area, advising of conditions favourable for the development of funnel clouds. Funnel clouds usually appear with little to no warning.
An unstable air mass tracking through the area may lead to the development of isolated funnel clouds, generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. It is typically not a danger near the ground but may intensify to produce a weak landspout tornado.
If conditions become more favourable to the development of landspout tornadoes, watches and warning will be issued by Environment Canada.
