LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A London City Council member is facing a domestic violence charge.

Court documents state that Justin Young, 49, a member of the London City Council, was arrested Monday.

According to a criminal complaint, a former girlfriend of Young’s reported to deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office last Wednesday about a May incident where Young grabbed her and shoved her into a wooden beam. She also described an incident from July where he took her phone from her and smashed it.

Young is charged with fourth-degree assault (dating violence) and second-degree criminal mischief.

He was released on a $2,500 cash bond under conditions of no contact with the victim.
