Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.
Nate Bargatze incited a backlash when he hosted the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 14 and introduced a gimmick to keep the acceptance speeches short.
The comedian, who hosted the show for the first time , announced during his opening monologue that he would be donating $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America . But there was a catch.
“Every second you go over 45 seconds, we will deduct $1,000 away from the Boys and Girls Club,” he said, as the audience laughed.
“I know. I know. That’s tough. It’s hard. That’s tough. It’s brutal,” he continued. “What are you going to do, though? I can’t change it. This is a game I made up, and these are the rules.”
