Ruben Amorim could be handed a lifeline at Benfica should he leave Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.

Amorim is under immense pressure at Old Trafford after a thrashing in the Manchester derby against Manchester City on Sunday.

His Red Devils were beaten 3-0 by their bitter rivals, with the club picking up just four points from as many Premier League games in what is their worst start to a season since 1992.

They sit 14th in the table as their woeful form continues into this campaign following a worst-ever finish in the Premier League last term.

Amorim has now taken charge of 47 games in all competitions as United boss in total and he's lost 20 of those.

In 31 Premier League matches under their Portuguese boss, United have also only managed to pick up 31 points.
