EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A mural honoring conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was vandalized in Edinburg.
Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on Sept. 10 after he was shot during a rally tour at Utah Valley University.
Since his assassination, thousands of people nationwide have gathered to honor Kirk with prayer vigils and ceremonies.
A memorial mural was created by Rio Grande Valley artist Pop Culture shortly after the news of Kirk's death was announced.
The mural, located on a private property in downtown Edinburg, showed Kirk with a quote stating, "Will we change the fate of this nation, or will we let it remain in shackles!"
Now, the mural is vandalized with a quote by Kirk saying, "We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act."
